List of supporting documents to be submitted by applicants travelling for the purpose of tourism
• Flight reservation When applying for a visa for multiple visits: Reservation of the first visit. Attention: A confirmed return ticket. The ticket should be bought only after the visa has been issued!
• For minors (under 18)
– Student card + Original letter of the school, mentioning:
- Full address, telephone number of the school
- Permission for absence name and
- Function of the person giving the permission
- 1 photocopy thereof
– Notary Certificate of medical birth or family relation or proof of guardianship legalized by MFA or local FAO; when not in China, attested by the relevant authorities in the country of residence.
– Minors traveling alone or with one parent:
Notary Certificate of permission to travel from either both parents or legal guardians (when minor is traveling alone) or the parent or legal guardian not travelling (when minor is traveling with one parent), legalized by MFA or local FAO, when not in China, attested by the relevant authorities in the country of residence.
• “Hukou”: photocopies of all pages (no translation, only for Chinese nationals).
• Proof of accommodation For the whole duration of the intended stay.
• Travel programme Documents providing clear evidences about your travel programme (booking transportation, itinerary, etc.)
• Proof of solvency of the applicant Bank statements for the last 3 months, no deposits
For employees:
– A sealed copy of the business license of the employing company
– A letter from the employer (in English, or in Chinese with English translation) on official company paper with stamp, signature, date and clearly mentioning:
Address, telephone and fax numbers of the employing company
The name and position in the employing company of the countersigning officer
The name of applicant, position, salary and years of service
Approval for leave or absence
For retired persons:
Proof of pension or other regular income
For unemployed adults:
If married: Letter of employment and income of the spouse + Notary certificate of marriage, legalized by MFA.
If single/divorced/widow/widower: Any other proof of regular income.
Medical insurance
Minimum coverage 30,000 euro, for medical costs and medical repatriation, valid in all Schengen countries during the whole validity of the issued visa.
Biometric Data Collection
As of 12 October 2015 all applicants applying for a Schengen visa will be required to present their biometric data - ten fingerprints and a digital photo. Biometric data will be stored in the Visa Information System (VIS), which is a central database for the exchange of data on short-stay visas (for stays up to 90 days in any 180-day period) between Schengen States. The main objectives of the VIS are to facilitate visa application procedures and checks at external border as well as to enhance security.
Therefore, as of 12 October 2015 all visa applicants will have to appear in person at the Greece Visa Application Center, when lodging the application, in order to provide their fingerprints. For subsequent applications within 59 months, the fingerprints can be copied from the previous application file in the VIS.
ADS applicants will submit their visa applications via ADS-accredited travel agencies, but they will have to appear in person at the Visa Application Centre for the collection of their fingerprints, if submitting an application for the first time. For subsequent applications within 59 months, the fingerprints can be copied from the previous file in the VIS. Group visa applications (a group of 5 or above applicants, not limited to ADS groups) should send an email to the Visa Application Centres make an appointment. Calls are not accepted. The appointments will be made on a first come first served basis.

It should be noted that if for some reason fingerprints are not found in the VIS, the applicant will have to appear in the Visa Application Centre to have his fingerprints collected.
Applicants may request the collection of their fingerprints each time when applying for a visa.
･In order to avoid prolonging processing time of their application, in cases where their fingerprints, for some reason, may not be found in VIS.
･For security reasons - to confirm the identity of the applicant.
･If the applicant does not remember whether fingerprints were collected within the last 59 months or is not sure if fingerprints have ever been collected before.
Children under the age of 12 and persons for whom fingerprinting is physically impossible are exempted from the requirement to give fingerprints.
Visas issued before 12 October 2015 are valid through their period of validity without biometric data.
Who Applies Where
The visa applications could be submitted at any of the visa application centers in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Xi’an, Chongqing, Chengdu, Shenyang, Wuhan, Kunming, Changsha, Hangzhou, Shenzhen, Jinan, Fuzhou and Nanjing according to their Hukou(family book) or an application by persons not residing in jurisdiction only can be accepted if applicants are holding residence permit issued at least 3 months.
The holders of ordinary passports, whose resident permit has been issued from Shanghai, Jiangsu, Anhui, Hubei, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, are welcomed to submit their visa application at the Greece Visa Application Centre, Shanghai, Nanjing, Hangzhou or Wuhan.
The holders of ordinary passports, whose resident permit has been issued from Guangdong, Fujian, Hainan, Hunan, Yunnan，Guizhou and Guangxi, are kindly requested to submit their visa application at the Greece Visa Application Centre, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Changsha, Kunming or Fuzhou.
The holders of ordinary passports, whose resident permit has been issued from provinces other than the ones listed above, are kindly requested submit their applications at the Greece Visa Application Centre, Beijing, Xi’an, Chongqing, Chengdu, Shenyang, Jinan.
