Our tour starts with a driving from Kalamata in the early morning for about 2 hours and reaching Olympia and its spectacular site and museum for a long tour of this unique place.
We walk through the impressive ruins of the area where athletes trained and run in the ancient stadium just as the ancient Olympians did after their victory 3000 years ago. We explore the ruins of the ancient Gymnasium, Palestra, Hotels and Temples that were once the cradle of the civilization.
After a long walk among the ruins we continue our tour and we visit the museum, where we get the chance to see some unbelievable sculptures such as the sculpted decoration of the temple of Zeus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, the famous Hermes of Praxiteles and the statue of Nike of Peonios.
We spend about 2 hours in the town of Olympia in order to visit the site and the museum and we have 1 more hour free time to enjoy a coffee or a lunch at a local restaurant before we start the trip back to Kalamata.
